In Memory of Ed Rader

A Legacy Built on Passion & Purpose
August 6, 1936 — August 17, 2026
Over 50 years ago, a small group of visionary sportsmen came together with a simple goal: to create a place where they could train, hunt, and fully enjoy their dogs. Among that original group was Ed Rader, who signed the Articles of Incorporation in 1971 and helped lay the very foundation of the Amo Conservation Bird Dog Club.
What began as a shared dream quickly grew into something much larger. Ed and his fellow early members built the Amo CBDC from the ground up—borrowing from their own pockets to acquire land, construct buildings, build lakes, and turn raw grounds into the nationally-known Home of NSTRA.
Ed’s vision wasn't limited to our club grounds, either. As a true innovator, his work in developing dog training technology changed the way bird dogs—and working dogs of all kinds—are trained today. His contributions left an indelible mark on the sporting dog world locally, nationally, and internationally.
The Ed Rader Memorial Fund
To honor Ed’s extraordinary contributions and 50+ year legacy, his family has requested that memorial gifts be directed to the Conservation Bird Dog Club.
All funds contributed in Ed’s memory will be held in a dedicated fund to support ongoing improvements to the club grounds and facilities—ensuring that the dream Ed helped realize in 1971 continues to serve bird dog enthusiasts for decades to come.

Services
Arrangements have been entrusted to Helton & Harris Funeral Homes, 102 S. Indiana Street, Danville, Indiana where the family will receive friends for a memorial gathering and visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27.
